Pros offer tips for a safe, flexible start to ski season

TThe dawn temps lately hover around the freezing mark, the leaves have taken flight, and there's been white atop the mountains on recent mornings. It all points toward ski season. But if your ski legs are feeling as rusty as the edges of those Salomons you put away and forgot about back in April - well, it's time to get both in shape.

Whether you're a cross-country enthusiast or get your kicks flying downhill, the basics of preparing your body for a season on skis are similar. Strong legs are just one piece of the puzzle. You'll also need a solid core, good balance, agility, and endurance - both cardiovascular and muscular - to make the most of the snow season.
